War Poetry

After discussing much about current affairs, I decided to discuss about academics in my school. Currently, my class is learning War Poetry and I have gained much insight on four poems: The Soldier, Wirers, The Happy Warrior and I Have a Rendezvous with Death. Of all the poems, I liked the last poem the best. The poem is mainly about a soldier who fantasizes about death, and resigned to his fate at the end of the poem. I admire how to poet is able to personify "Death" into a person and wrote it like a love poem, but not to a lover but death. The poem catches my eye at first sight because the word "Death" jumped at me. "Death" provokes an emotional response, which makes reader want to read on. It also has beautiful and vivid imagery in the poem. Lastly, the poet is able to make reference to Greek Mythology from the quote "dark land", which is referring to Hades, a Greek god.
