Shanghai World Expo

China showed its most glamorous city with a blaze of fireworks, opening the 6-month-long World Expo with a glittering riverfront. It appears to be less spectacular than the Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, but it was said to be budget-conscience. It still charmed, nonetheless, leaning heavily n the use of water. It is an important event for Chinese to showcase its 3000 years of rich history, as well as the exponential growth in the past 3 decades. The Chinese President assured his foreign guest that it would be a grand event that would bridge China and the world. I feel that this is a golden opportunity for China to showcase her talents, as well as to improve ties between countries from other parts of the world. It would also be beneficial to other cities as Shanghai will open the door to future cities, help boost construction of peaceful, civilised and happy cities, and promote the all-round development of mankind.
